Latin Baked is a typeface created during the Graphic Identity course at Beckmans College of Design. The brief was to update the visual identity of an old company. I chose to work with Hangö Kex, an old Finnish biscuit factory that was active from around 1910 to 1970.

As part of reviving Hangö Kex, I wanted to create a playful typography that honors the legacy the company left behind. “Glad as a Hangö Kex” is still used as a saying in Finland, referring to the smiling logo.

The solution to the brief became the Latin Baked typeface—made from 87 cookies shaped into letters, which I baked, scanned, and then vectorized. The name and design are a nod to the Latin Bold typeface, which was used in Hangö Kex's older advertisements. The colors are inspired by vintage biscuit tins.
